Staff Induction

Present: George Clark, Duncan Leece, Alison McKenzie, Bob Peden,

Apologies: Donna Barnett and Alison Simpson networking at a Leader + conference in Stirling; Joan Rennie snow bound in Crovie

Given the unavoidably low attendance it was decided to have an informal and unminuted meeting loosely structured around George's handouts on 'Induction'.

Several topics were flagged as in need of further and fuller discussion:

  • The benefits of a well designed induction process - especially in a lightly structured organisation.
  • Sharing the construction of, and pre-testing, questionnaires
  • Getting our message across - by what means and in what language code?
    •  We 'output' a lot of Newsletters but what is their 'impact'.
    •  Are we in danger of being dismissed as a bunch of     'intellectuals'?
  • The benefits, to ourselves and others, of publishing our own information.
  • The technicalities of collecting, recording, storing and processing our information.
